Reading the API log

For every migration job, DatMig can produce an API log: all the raw request and response of every call it made to the source and target API. In case of any investigation into migration issues, this log can provide the definitive answer to “what exactly happened?”

What is in it

• Each entry shows the API call DatMig made, the data it sent, and the platform API's response.
• Together with the per-item migration report, it lets you trace any object end to end and see precisely why it succeeded or failed.

Availability

The downloadable API log is part of the Business plan and Enterprise plan. For reference: the per-item migration report, a CSV of what migrated, is available from the Pro plan, and the workspace Activity Monitor, a separate audit trail of who did what, is an Enterprise feature.

Using it

• You can download the API log from a job's detail page after a migration completion.
• Go for it when a specific object failed for a non-obvious reason, or when you need an auditable record of a migration.
