Mapping custom fields

Relevant toAll plans

Custom fields carry the data that makes your tasks/items/cards/records useful. DatMig maps them from source to target and converts values to the right type as a migration runs.

How it works

  • In the Map step of the migration, DatMig lists your source custom fields and reads the custom fields available in the target space/board.
  • DatMig then determines which source custom fields are comaptible with which target custom fields based on the field types. It then lets you match each source field to only a compatible target field. You can also choose not to match a source field to one in target, in which case its value will not be migrated.

Tips

  • Create the custom fields you want in the target space/board first; DatMig maps to existing fields rather than creating them. Any exception to this behaviour, is mentioned the respective migration page here.
  • DatMig auto-matches compatible custom fields by name where possible, so consistent naming makes the mapping easier.
  • In rare cases, it may be possible that a target custom field deemed compatible by DatMig is unable to hold the migrated value due do field type issues. Such events will be reported in the migration job so that you can take corrective actions.
